Educational History:

  • I graduated from Northside High School in Fort Smith, AR.
  • I received both of my degrees from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. 

Degrees and Certifications:

  • I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Education (B.S.E.) degree.
  • I also have a Master’s of Education (M.Ed) degree.
  • I am certified to teach Math grades 7 – 12.
    • I have additional certifications/endorsements to teach AP Calculus AB and Transitions to College Mathematics.

Current Position:

  • I began teaching at Hector High School in August of 2014.
  • This will be my third year to teach in Hector Public Schools. 
  • I currently teach Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus AB at Hector High School. 

Previous Position:

  • Before I came to Hector, I taught  Mathematics at Waldron High School for 9 years. At Waldron HS I taught  the following courses: Algebra A, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebraic Connections, Algebra 2, Transitions to College Math and ALE Math.
  • I also worked in the Fort Smith Public Schools for 2 ½ years as a Substitute Teacher.
  • While working on my Master’s degree, I taught Physical Education at Elmdale Elementary School in Springdale, AR on a Graduate Assistantship.
  • In addition, I have worked for two years as a Math tutor both at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and at Sylvan Learning Center in Fort Smith.
  • Furthermore, I have worked as a Soccer Instructor at two different summer camps (the National Youth Sports Program(NYSP) camp on the University of Arkansas campus and Indian Head Camp (IHC) in Lookout, PA).

Family Information:

I have one daughter, Kaitlin Mackenzie Stephens. She graduated from the United States Air Force Academy on Thursday, June 2nd 2016. 

Personal Information:

I have many hobbies outside of work including: KAYAKING, riding my mountain bike, playing the guitar, going camping, exercising, and swimming. I also enjoy reading, watching all things soccer and spending time with my family and friends.
