The guidance class program’s central theme is good character and integrity.  At Hector, we encourage positive character traits such as honesty, kindness, friendliness and always doing the right thing.

Guidance classes are held each day where we discuss doing the right thing and being a person of intergrity.  Your child knows sign language for the phrase “I will be a person with integrity.”  Ask them to demonstrate for you!  They may not remember all of the signs but they will be happy that you know what they are learning!  Take a few minutes each day and ask your child what they did in school, or learned in school, that day.  They will be happy to tell you!

Hector Elementary is partnering again this year with Junior Achievement of Arkansas, on November 16th, to bring volunteers from Southwestern Energy to come into our classrooms and present lessons on financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship.  Junior Achievement’s main goal is helping young people succeed in a global economy.  SWN volunteers will be explaining how it all relates to ourselves, our families and our communities for our students in kindergarten through fourth grades.  Students will be bringing home a goodie bag, courtesy of Southwestern Energy.  So, after this day long event, ask your child to share what they have learned!
